"Behold, I give you power

over all the power of the enemy"

Lesson One: Satan’s Fall

There are only two Kingdoms in this world: The Kingdom of God and the Kingdom of Satan. You are either in one or the other. Who is this fallen Angel? Why did he become so evil?

I.       Isaiah 14:12-15 & Ezekiel:11-19

The Scriptures show us that Satan was a powerful Angel who abused his power and tried to usurp the Throne of God. He and his Demons were cast out of Heaven.

Here is a summary of Isaiah 14:12-15 & Ezekiel 28:11-19

1-  He was full of wisdom and perfect in beauty.

2-  He once lived in the Garden of Eden. When God first created the Heavens and the Earth His Tabernacle was in Eden where He dwelt among the Angels.

3-  He was created as the leader of heavenly worship.

4-  He was one of the anointed cherubs covering the Mercy Seat in Heaven.

5-  He walked upon God’s Holy Mountain having a special fellowship with God.

6-  His heart was filled with violence because of his riches and filled with pride because of his beauty and he defiled the Sanctuary when he said he would exalt his throne above the Throne of God.

7-  Because of his sin he was cast out of Heaven. One day everyone will see him destroyed.

Here we see an angel of enormous stature: beautiful, full of wisdom, a covering cherub, leading heavenly worship, walking on Gods Holy Mountain and having all the riches of the Garden of God. Yet, his heart was filled with pride because:

Satan fell because he desired to be worshipped rather than to worship God.

        II.        The fall of Satan:

            The “Gap Theory”

Many Biblical scholars believe that there is a vast amount of time between Genesis 1:1 and Genesis 1:2a. They also believe that Isaiah 45:17 one of the reasons and that Isaiah chapter 14 and Ezekiel chapter 28 are two others.

Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the Heavens and the Earth.

Isaiah 45:17                God created the Earth to be inhabited. It had shape and was not void when it was created.

Genesis 1:2a              It became empty, covered by darkness as a result of Satan’s rebellion. He rebelled and when he was cast out of Eden, the Garden of God, he and his fallen angels destroyed the Earth in their fury. God’s beautiful Garden was laid waste as Satan sought his revenge. It was after that happened that the Lord Flooded the Earth and it was covered with darkness and became void (empty).

III.       Adam was once the Lord of the Earth

A.        Genesis 1:2b The Spirit Of God moved on the waters. It was at this point in time that God recreated the Heavens and the Earth. He brought light back and set the Sun, Moon and Stars in place.

The Earth brought forth its vegetation and animals were created. And then, God created Man and told him to “Be fruitful and replenish the Earth”. Had the Earth not been filled before God would not have told Adam to replenish or refill the Earth.

B.        Genesis 2:15 Adam was placed in the Garden of Eden and commanded to keep it which meant to “guard it”.

C.        Genesis 1:26-28 When Adam was created he was given dominion over all the works of God’s hands on Earth. Adam was the Lord of the Earth. He was God’s representative.

IV.       Satan became the Lord of his world

            A.                    Genesis 3:1-6 Adam gave in to the Devil’s temptation “To become like God” and he disobeyed God’s Commandments. He did not guard the Garden from the serpent and then he ate of the forbidden fruit. In so doing, Adam gave up his dominion and Satan became Lord over the Earth. He became known as “The god of this world”!

            B.                    Luke 4:5,6 Satan told Jesus that all the kingdoms of the earth were his for they were delivered unto him.

He was referring to Adam’s lost authority! The whole world now lies under the Devil’s dominion or authority!

C.        Colossians 1:13 Who hath Delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the Kingdom of His dear son. Thru our Faith in Jesus we are no longer under Satan’s Dominion. Now Jesus is Lord!

        V.        The Names of the Devil
