Christians and Politics

Christians are told that there should be a

“separation between the Church and the State”.

In my opinion, people can say what they want to say…

I however, do not have to accept their statements as fact.

 A Christian is:

  1. One who professes belief in Jesus as the Christ

  2. One who lives according to the teachings of Jesus.

Politics is;

  1. The science of government; that part of ethics which has to do with the regulation and government of a nation or state, the preservation of its safety, peace, and prosperity, the defense of its existence and rights against foreign control or conquest, the augmentation of its strength and resources, and the protection of its citizens in their rights, with the preservation and improvement of their morals.

  2. The management of a political party; the conduct and contests of parties with reference to political measures or the administration of public affairs; the advancement of candidates to office.

Ethics is:

  1. Motivation based on ideas of right and wrong.

  2. The philosophical study of moral values and rules.

  3. A set of principles of right conduct.

  4. A system of moral values:

So tell me, where’s the conflict? Why should Christians stay out of politics when politics has everything to do with what’s right and wrong?

Let’s look at something Jesus taught since a Christian follows the teachings of Jesus:

Luke 11:2-4         “And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth. Give us day by day our daily bread. 4And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil.”

When Jesus told us to pray the that The Kingdom of God manifest in the earth and the God’s will should be done in the earth as it is in heaven He was informing us of two things:

1.        1.    He expects us to be involved with the governing of planet earth! He wants the ethics, morals and values of His Kingdom reflected in the earth.

2.       2.    Moreover, it is our duty to bring it to pass as He answers our prayers and inspires us with ways to bring the ethics, morals and values of His Kingdom here.

So, since there is no conflict inherent in the definitions of a Christian and Politics and since Jesus expects us to be involved with the governing of the earth’s nations… we should be involved!

Don’t swallow the lie that Christians should not be involved in politics. Read this treatise and memorize its principles and help God’s “Kingdom come” and His “will be done on earth as it is in Heaven”!
